Seminar Insights
A seminar titled
“Driving Local Revitalization through DX” featured
Naoki Yanagida, the Director of the F-Japan Promotion Office, who articulated the significance of local economic revitalization and its essential role in fostering sustainable growth in rural areas. Yanagida outlined the strategic initiatives underpinning the F-Japan model, emphasizing the importance of leveraging local resources and capabilities instead of relying on external inputs.
He pointed out that revitalizing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is crucial. The vitality of these businesses can create a ripple effect, promoting overall regional economic progress and eventually enhancing the development of the local government as a whole. Yanagida stressed the importance of a coordinated effort across three key domains—
government operations, resident services, and industrial collaboration—to maximize the impact of digital transformation.
Additionally, he introduced FORVAL’s
DX assessment tools, which utilize a bespoke scoring system alongside interviews to visualize current conditions in local governments. By identifying priority areas and offering targeted improvement strategies, FORVAL aims to guide municipalities in enhancing their digital capabilities. Regular assessments of progress and the effectiveness of implemented strategies are also fundamental to this process.
To underline the collaborative spirit of regional growth, Yanagida highlighted the importance of partnerships among administrative bodies, financial institutions, and educational organizations. This ensures that as digital talents are nurtured, they contribute to local enterprises, thereby generating employment and income cycles within the community. Such a structure not only bolsters the local economy but also strives towards a vision of an inclusive society where no one is left behind.
