Join the Frescoball Experience at Miyakojima's Beach Cleanup Event
The Japanese Frescoball Association (JFBA) is thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for beach lovers and sports enthusiasts alike. On March 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM to around 3:00 PM, we invite you to participate in the "Beach Cleanup Operation in Miyakojima Yoshino Beach" and enjoy a complimentary Frescoball experience!
This event is particularly special as it unfolds in Miyakojima, Okinawa, known for its scenic beauty and vibrant marine life. As part of our commitment to promoting Frescoball, a sport originated in Rio de Janeiro in 1945, we are joining local efforts to enhance beach cleanliness and awareness.
The Importance of the Event
Miyakojima’s Yoshino Beach is a renowned snorkeling location, drawing visitors each season. Unfortunately, it also faces persistent challenges with litter, primarily plastic from bottles and Styrofoam. To address these environmental issues, the "Miyakojima Yoshino Beach Cleanup Executive Committee" has been established to spearhead cleanup projects in the area. By participating in this event, attendees will not only learn about the importance of beach conservation but also actively contribute to it.
The JFBA opened an office in Naha in 2022 and launched the "CLUB FRESCOBALL STYLE" membership focusing on SDGs to strengthen our initiatives around beach sports and environmental stewardship in Okinawa. This cleanup operation will be a multifaceted event, combining eco-awareness with fun sporting activities such as Frescoball, showcasing that sports can be a vehicle for community development and environmental care.
Frescoball: A Sport of Collaboration
Frescoball is described as a communication design sport, promoting teamwork rather than competition. Players rally the ball back and forth, creating a captivating flow that highlights connection and cooperation. Every match lasts five minutes with players maintaining a distance of seven meters. This unique format has earned Frescoball its nickname - the sport of compassion.
Attendees can engage in the free Frescoball experience during the event. We provide all the necessary equipment; you simply need to bring sunblock, insect repellent, and your enthusiasm. As a special treat, children who help clean the beach will have the chance to grab some sweets!
