CGN's Open Day Connects Four Continents Through Clean Energy and Culture

CGN's Open Day: A Celebration of Clean Energy and Cultural Exchange

On September 30, 2025, China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) hosted its annual Open Day, an international event that spanned across four continents: Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. This initiative highlighted CGN's commitment to harnessing clean energy and fostering cultural understanding globally.

In cities like Paris, Husab, Mueang Xay, and Ceará, CGN invited students, families, and community members to explore renewable energy facilities and engage in cultural activities. This event featured innovative technologies and education, bridging gaps between communities through a shared commitment to sustainable practices.

France: Youth Engagement in Innovative Technologies

At CGN’s European headquarters in La Défense, Paris, over 20 students from the University of Versailles engaged in an insightful tour of the company’s operations control center. They were introduced to advanced wind farm management systems used in France, the UK, Belgium, and Ireland. Engineers demonstrated the technology behind turbine resilience during storms, acoustic monitoring that protects wildlife, and the intricate processes involved in site selection and connection to the grid.

Namibia: Family Bonds at Husab Uranium Mine

In Namibia, around 80 family members of CGN employees participated in a highly anticipated Family Open Day at the Husab Uranium Mine near the Atlantic coast. Children marveled at giant mining trucks and gained knowledge about uranium extraction through interactive quizzes and scientific presentations, which turned the site into a vibrant learning environment.

Brazil: Solar Energy for Ecological Education

Meanwhile, in Ceará, Brazil, the Lagoinha Solar Power Plant transformed into an outdoor classroom for local schoolchildren. After receiving safety lessons, the students got a hands-on experience with photovoltaic panels and learned how sunlight is converted into electricity. Engineers used simple analogies to explain complex concepts, while environmental experts illustrated how the solar facility coexists harmoniously with local wildlife and nature.

Laos: Tradition Meets Innovation

In the Oudomxay province of Laos, the Open Day featured traditional crafting alongside solar energy education. Students and teachers participated in workshops at the Northern Clean Energy Project, practicing traditional weaving at the “CGN Shimmer” workshop before visiting a solar demonstration site. This initiative underscored CGN’s commitment to empowering women and advancing clean energy solutions in Laos.

A Unified Vision

This year's CGN Open Day was more than an event; it represented a unified mission to develop clean energy for the benefit of humanity. By intertwining technology with educational opportunities and cultural dialogues, CGN exemplifies its role as a responsible global partner. Through such initiatives, CGN not only champions renewable energy but also contributes to community development and cultural enrichment across various regions.
