Collaboration Between Space Shift and WHERE to Enhance Real Estate Solutions Using Satellite Data

Collaboration to Transform Real Estate with Satellite Data

In a strategic move to innovate real estate solutions, Space Shift Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and WHERE Inc., based in Bunkyo, Tokyo, have recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU). This partnership aims to harness satellite data to develop cutting-edge solutions within the real estate sector. Through this collaboration, WHERE will also participate in Space Shift's co-creation program known as 'SateBiz,' accelerating their joint efforts in maximizing the potential of satellite technology in real estate.

Understanding the Untapped Market Potential

WHERE has recognized that the real estate sector contains an enormous off-market potential, estimated to be worth approximately 10 quadrillion yen. They have been actively developing the 'WHERE' AI tool, which connects property owners with real estate opportunities. They firmly believe that insights derived from a 'space perspective' are crucial in unlocking this vast potential. Collaborations with satellite data providers have allowed them to carry out proof of concepts (PoCs) that further their objectives.

As the demands of real estate professionals continue to diversify, WHERE acknowledges the necessity of partnering not only with their own resources but also with advanced satellite data firms to meet these evolving needs efficiently. Space Shift brings to the table its extensive expertise in analyzing a range of Earth observation data, with applications that include monitoring agriculture, urban dynamics, and disaster situations.

Combined Forces for Higher Quality Information

The collaboration between WHERE and Space Shift will enable the integration of real estate information and satellite data, paving the way for delivering superior insights. This synergy aims to create new value in agriculture, urban development, and disaster management, promoting a 'Space Transformation' (SX) within the real estate sector and working towards capturing a share of the 10 quadrillion yen market.

The Role of the 'SateBiz' Co-Creation Program

Space Shift’s 'SateBiz' program is designed to encourage the private sector's utilization of satellite data. It comprises around 70 companies from various fields, including finance, real estate, agriculture, and green transformation (GX). The program aims to create value by combining satellite data with the companies' existing assets and facilitating the execution of PoCs. WHERE's involvement is expected to deepen cooperation with other members, fostering new business opportunities and enhancing the overall value of collaborative efforts.
