Brandi Williams Broome Appointed New CEO of V Foundation for Cancer Research
Brandi Williams Broome to Lead V Foundation for Cancer Research
In a significant move for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, Brandi Williams Broome has been named the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective from March 16. Broome steps into the role following Clark Kinlin, who has held the position of Interim CEO since July 2025. As Kinlin transitions back to the Board of Directors, he leaves behind a legacy of leadership that includes guiding the Foundation during a period of unprecedented accomplishment, highlighted by a record $60 million contribution to cancer research in the previous year.
Brandi Williams Broome is no stranger to the nonprofit sector. Before joining the V Foundation, she served as the Chief Development and Delivery Officer at the American Diabetes Association. Her earlier tenure at the American Heart Association spanned two decades, showcasing her depth of experience in the nonprofit realm. Known for her visionary leadership, Williams Broome has a rich background in fundraising, operational strategy, market expansion, and talent development. Her proven success in leading diverse teams and fostering partnerships aligns with the ambitious goals set by the V Foundation.
Evan Goldberg, Chair of the V Foundation Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm about Broome's appointment. He stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Brandi as our new CEO during this time of unprecedented growth for the V Foundation. Her expertise as a nonprofit leader and success in development, expansion, and transformation aligns perfectly with our strategic plan as we accelerate toward Victory Over Cancer® like never before.”
Williams Broome’s leadership will be supported by a dedicated team at the V Foundation, which includes a highly regarded Board of Directors comprising leading business figures, accomplished athletes, esteemed physicians, and celebrated entertainers. The Foundation also boasts a Scientific Advisory Committee made up of top medical professionals and researchers, tasked with reviewing proposals for funding from recognized cancer centers and research institutions across North America.
Reflecting on her new role, Broome shared her enthusiasm and commitment to the Foundation's mission. “Since 1993, when Jim Valvano announced the creation of the V Foundation on the ESPYS stage, this organization has been relentlessly focused on funding the best cancer researchers to save lives. To join a team with such a rich history of impact—at a moment when we are accelerating toward Victory Over Cancer® at a record pace—is an incredible honor.”
The V Foundation prides itself on being a responsible steward of donor contributions. In a statement, the organization reiterated that 100% of all donations go directly toward cancer research. This commitment to transparency has earned the Foundation a remarkable 13 consecutive 4-star ratings from Charity Navigator, situating it among the top 2% of all evaluated charities.
Since its inception, the V Foundation has allocated over $458 million in innovative cancer research grants, contributing substantially to the ongoing fight against cancer. Researchers funded by the Foundation have participated in nearly 1,100 clinical trials and have attracted over $22 billion in additional cancer research funding throughout their careers.
As the V Foundation gears up for its next chapter under Brandi Williams Broome’s leadership, it is poised to make significant strides in cancer research and treatment, solidifying its position as a critical player in the global fight against this devastating disease.
