Scala Data Centers Marks Major Advancement with New Master Plan Approval for Tamboré Campus in São Paulo

Scala Data Centers Celebrates Milestone with Tamboré Campus Approval

On October 30, 2025, Scala Data Centers, a leading provider of sustainable data centers in Latin America, achieved a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Municipality of Barueri. This agreement, which approves the master plan for the Tamboré Campus, sets the stage for the largest and most advanced data center campus in the region, boasting a remarkable 600 MW capacity.

A New Era of Urban Development

This recent agreement marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of urban development in Barueri, as it incorporates substantial investments in infrastructure and community enhancements. The initiatives outlined in the master plan will significantly improve roadways and enhance traffic systems to create a safer commuting experience for residents and employees in the region.

Mayor José Roberto "Beto" Piteri expressed optimism regarding this partnership, stating that it positions Barueri as a premier hub for innovation and technology. He emphasized that this project transcends digital infrastructure, pointing to the extensive urban upgrades, job creation, and sustainable economic development it promises to deliver to the community.

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

The Tamboré Campus is expected to be a cornerstone of Scala's operations, exemplifying excellence in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The data center will utilize 100% renewable energy, facilitated through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that support the development of new wind and solar energy farms.

Moreover, the campus aims to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35, which is significantly lower than the average 1.55 seen worldwide. This efficiency will be possible through advanced cooling technologies and systems designed to optimize energy use while minimizing the environmental impact. The facility will employ closed-loop cooling systems that mitigate pressure on local water sources, ensuring responsible management of water resources.

Significant Investment and Regional Impact

With investments surpassing R$ 10 billion, the Tamboré Campus is strategically located alongside the Rodoanel highway in Greater São Paulo, an area recognized for its high connectivity. Currently, it hosts seven functioning data centers, with additional facilities under construction, which all contribute to over 120 MW of active capacity. Once fully developed, the 17 planned data centers will collectively provide 600 MW of power.

The MoU forecasts future development phases that are expected to rank Tamboré among the world’s ten largest data center complexes. Beyond sheer scale, this project is positioned to impact society positively through job creation and will serve as a model of operational excellence suited for the challenges of the Artificial Intelligence era.

In conclusion, with the approval of the Tamboré Campus master plan, Scala Data Centers not only solidifies its role in the expansion of Latin America's digital infrastructure but also underscores its commitment to leadership in innovation, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability. This project is a testament to Scala's mission to drive technological advancement while fostering economic growth and community benefit.
