Celebrating 75 Years of Automotive Passion
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance has established itself as a premier automotive event, celebrating its
75th anniversary this year. Hailing from picturesque
Pebble Beach, California, this historic gathering not only showcases some of the rarest cars but also honors the stories and innovations behind them. In tribute to this milestone, renowned artist
Tim Layzell has crafted a stunning collection of posters that encapsulate the essence of this prestigious event.
The Essence of Automotive Art
This year’s official poster collection features three unique designs, each celebrating a different aspect of the Concours. For the first time ever, the legacy of the
Pebble Beach Road Races, which paved the way for the Concours’ establishment, is highlighted alongside celebrated events like the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance.
- - Alfa Romeo BATs: The Concours poster prominently features the three legendary Alfa Romeo BATs (Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica). These striking creations exemplified automotive excellence in the early 1950s, with their aerodynamic designs pushing the boundaries of innovation. They first made a splash at the Pebble Beach Concours in 1989, and this year they return in a spectacular showcase, depicting their beauty as they approach the Awards Ramp.
- - Road Racing Heritage: Reflecting on the event’s roots, the road racing poster commemorates the thrilling Pebble Beach Road Races. These races took place on a scenic 1.8-mile circuit through the Del Monte Forest, attracting motorsports enthusiasts from all around. One such celebrated vehicle depicted is the 1955 OSCA MT4-TN Barchetta, famously driven by Ernie McAfee, showcasing the lightweight and competitive spirit of Italian sports cars.
- - Ferrari's Legacy: The third poster spotlights the iconic Ferrari 375 America, a premier grand touring model introduced during the early 1950s. Among the twelve ever produced, the 1954 Ferrari 375 America Vignale Cabriolet is the only cabriolet boasting a 4.5-liter engine or larger from the era. This particular model is driven around the breathtaking landscapes of California's Highway 1, demonstrating Ferrari's timeless allure and engineering prowess.
