Smart Industry Expo 2025 Showcases AI and New Energy Vehicles in Chongqing

Smart Industry Expo 2025: A Showcase of Innovation

The World Smart Industry Expo 2025 kicked off on September 5 in Chongqing, bringing together over 550 companies to showcase more than 3,000 innovations, including advancements in autonomous driving, AI cockpits, extended reality films, and robotic cafés. This year's event is centered on the theme of "AI+" and highlights intelligent and connected new energy vehicles, focusing on areas like digital city governance, robotics, connected living, and low-altitude economy. Guest countries at this year's expo include Singapore and the Sichuan province.

During the opening ceremony, nine notable speakers discussed how AI is catalyzing social change. For instance, Harry Shum Heung-Yeung, Chairman of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a foreign member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, emphasized the rise of embodied intelligence by announcing robots capable of learning, adapting, and collaborating in the real world. Cedrik Neike, Board Member and CEO of Digital Industries at Siemens AG, remarked that AI is accelerating the transition towards software-defined automation, enabling industries to become more flexible, efficient, and sustainable.

The expo comprises 11 events focusing on AI, digital transformation, and equity financing, connecting Huawei, Baidu, and other companies with 40 investment institutions. Contracts exceeding 200 billion yuan (approximately $27.5 billion USD) have been signed, including 120 billion yuan on-site.

Flagship projects like Geely’s smart manufacturing initiative aim to enhance supply chains and boost Chongqing's advanced manufacturing hub, the "33618 Strategy," which seeks to modernize industrial structures and build a nationally recognized center for advanced manufacturing. This will foster growth in sectors such as new energy vehicles, electronics, materials, food processing, textiles, and biomedicine.

The expo's new energy vehicle pavilion features 20 global automakers such as Changan, Seres, and Tesla, supported by over 100 parts suppliers and partners to highlight advancements in connected driving, software-defined vehicles, and smart manufacturing.

Additionally, it serves as a launchpad for cutting-edge technologies, including Changan's "SDA Intelligence" brand, Chongqing's low-altitude intelligent management service platform, Sugon’s AI supercluster system, and China's new energy vehicle initiatives.

Originally held in 2018 and known as the Smart China Expo, the World Smart Industry Expo has evolved into a major digital innovation platform that brings together industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to showcase breakthroughs in intelligent technologies and promote global collaboration. This year’s event exemplifies the dynamic convergence of technology and industry, paving the way for future developments in smart industries.

The future of transportation, powered by AI and new energy, is not just a possibility; it’s becoming a reality at the World Smart Industry Expo 2025. As industries evolve and the economic landscape changes, this expo is the perfect platform for unveiling how technology is set to redefine our world.
