The HIBC, or Hybrid Interdigitated Back-Contact technology, integrates the benefits of both Heterojunction Technology (HJT) and Back Contact (BC) designs. It marks the first instance of mass-producing modules capable of achieving over 700W output while maintaining a size of 2382 mm x 1134 mm. Impressively, the conversion efficiency of these modules can reach nearly 26%, ushering in a new era characterized by efficiencies exceeding 25% for photovoltaic modules.

LONGi’s chairman, Zhong Baoshen, referred to this launch as another significant milestone in the company’s journey towards technological innovation within the photovoltaic sector. The recent certification of the HIBC cells by the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH) in Germany, which confirmed an exceptional conversion efficiency of 27.81%, further emphasizes the groundbreaking nature of this technology.

Zhong emphasized the need for substantial improvements in output per unit area instead of merely expanding the physical dimensions of the solar panels. Historically, merely increasing module size led to diminishing returns in reliability and quality. Introduction of Power Density Concept



WHAT’S unique about LONGi’s True 700W module is its outstanding power density, exceeding 259 W/m². Compared to other 700W models in the industry, which tend to occupy significantly more space (typically sized at 2384 mm x 1303 mm), LONGi’s new module asserts that superior performance can come from more compact designs. Zhong Baoshen made it clear that this new module teaches us that extensive dimensions do not necessarily lead to superior output—a concept revolutionary for the industry.

With continuing pressure for land use and real estate, this increase in power density represents a valuable solution for both residential and commercial installations, especially as urban density intensifies.

At the press conference, Zhong also discussed the progress LONGi made in establishing a collaborative BC ecosystem since its launch in 2023. As of May 2025, LONGi had gained significant traction with 191 technical partnerships and established collaborations covering vital areas such as silicon wafers, modules, system solutions, and more, achieving an initial revenue of 1.95 billion Yuan.
