Meet the Artist
Tomoko Fuse was born in Niigata Prefecture in 1951 and currently resides in the mountainous areas of Nagano. As a pioneer of unit origami, her work extends beyond traditional paper folding to include patented industrial designs like the 'Origami Cup'. Her innovative creations have gained international acclaim, with exhibitions held in prestigious art venues across Germany, France, Austria, and the UK.
In Japan, Fuse is a familiar name in the art community, having exhibited at various esteemed locations, including the Azumino City Toyoshina Modern Art Museum and other prominent art festivals in 2024 and beyond. With over 100 published works, including translated editions, her contributions to origami literature encompass practical folding guides and artistic collections such as
SPIRAL (VIERECK VERLAG, 2012) and the photographic book
TOMOKO FUSE (Nuinui, 2018).
