Huawei's New OceanStor Dorado All-Flash Storage Achieves Technical Validation at MWC 2026

Huawei's New-Gen OceanStor Dorado All-Flash Storage Validated

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona in March 2026, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), now incorporated into Omdia, unveiled a technical validation report praising Huawei's New-Gen OceanStor Dorado Converged All-Flash Storage. This report highlights a pivotal shift in the storage landscape driven by the exponential rise in enterprise data volumes during the AI revolution.

Organizations are increasingly recognizing the imperative for advanced storage solutions that excel in performance, resilience, intelligence, and cost-effectiveness. However, with numerous storage vendors promoting all-flash solutions, the challenge often lies in navigating architectural design trade-offs that can hinder the balance between performance, reliability, and cost. This can ultimately limit the advantages that businesses stand to gain from such innovations.

The ESG report offers a thorough assessment of the New-Gen OceanStor Dorado across critical metrics: performance, resilience, intelligent management, and the total cost of ownership (TCO). The findings confirm that this system excels in these areas, proving itself as a formidable player in the marketplace. Its remarkable capabilities provide a robust combination of high performance, exceptional resilience, and optimized TCO, aligning perfectly with enterprises' aspirations for digital and intelligent transformation.

In rigorous testing scenarios simulating a high-concurrency database environment, the all-flash system achieved extraordinary results with over 876,256 IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) while maintaining an average response time as low as 32 µs. The innovative architecture allows seamless integration of diverse data types and utilizes a native parallel structure that efficiently accommodates blocks, files, and objects. Moreover, the system's active-active configuration supports effortless failover between data centers.

A standout feature of the New-Gen OceanStor Dorado is its SmartMatrix full-mesh architecture, which can withstand the failure of as many as seven out of eight controller enclosures without any service disruption. This resilience is complemented by FlashEver, which facilitates cross-generation convergence and ensures uninterrupted service during storage replacements. Furthermore, the included end-to-end intelligent protection with built-in ransomware detection safeguards both SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage).

The DataMaster agent of Huawei's iMaster DME data management platform elevates the user experience by enabling automatic system health assessments, predicting performance trends, and quickly pinpointing faults within minutes. Furthermore, an analysis of the five-year TCO indicates that the New-Gen OceanStor Dorado can potentially decrease TCO by an impressive 64% compared to traditional hybrid storage solutions, yielding significant cost savings in procurement, operational maintenance, and energy consumption.

Yuan Yuan, President of Huawei’s Data Storage Product Line, expressed, "This validation from the Enterprise Strategy Group underscores Huawei's continued leadership in storage technology innovation. We are committed to our innovation agenda and aim to accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation journey across various industries."
