Oddities and Curiosities Expo returns to captivate attendees with its fascinating array of eccentricities. Taking place at
DeVos Place on
July 19-20, this unique event is set to bring together an eclectic mix of oddity vendors and artists from across North America, transforming the venue into a veritable playground of the strange and unusual.
A Journey into the Uncommon
With ticket prices starting at a mere
$10, guests can immerse themselves in a world where the weird, wonderful, and downright bizarre coexist. The expo promises to showcase a diverse range of items, including taxidermy specimens, dark artistry, and a wide variety of unique collectibles. Visitors can browse through stalls featuring crafted oddities, skulls, funeral curios, and other rare finds. This vibrant mix allows for shopping like no other, catering to collectors and curious minds alike.
But this expo is not just about shopping. Attendees will find ample opportunities for engagement, such as
photo opportunities with outlandish displays,
tarot readings, and captivating sideshow performances throughout the event. Various food vendors will also be present to ensure everyone stays energized during their exploration.
A Personal Touch from Founders
The Oddities and Curiosities Expo was founded by Oklahoma-based duo
Michelle and Tony Cozzaglio, who have recognized the growing interest in oddities. Tony's roots in Grand Rapids make this city a sentimental stop on their expansive tour that spans around
40 locations in the U.S. and Canada over the coming year. Michelle noted, “We created this expo to give small odd businesses and artists a space where they can thrive. Our goal is to build a community where people feel safe to be themselves.”
Learning and Creating
For those looking to dive deeper, the expo features immersive classes as well. Those interested can sign up for a
day-long taxidermy class designed to educate participants on creating their own full-sized taxidermy mount. The class, held on
July 19, runs from
10 AM to 4 PM, priced at
$225. Additionally, an
entomology class will offer sessions on July 20, where students can learn about insect pinning for
$150. All classes utilize sustainably sourced materials, emphasizing ethical treatment of specimens.
