The Essence of Kogei
Kogei, or traditional crafts, encompasses
intangible techniques developed over long periods, emphasizing both skill and an understanding of materials. Every piece exhibits a deep appreciation for the material properties and a mastery of technique, resulting in a diversity of creations from functional beauty to pieces meant solely for appreciation.
The
"Kogei meets..." exhibition will present works by six skilled artisans from various fields:
- - Yoshirō Kimura – Ceramics
- - Kunihiko Moriguchi – Dyeing and Weaving (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property, “Yūzen”)
- - Kazumi Murose – Lacquer Art (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property, “Maki-e”)
