Expansion of 'Regular Toppings' in povo2.0

As part of its commitment to meeting diverse customer needs, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have announced an exciting enhancement to their mobile data service, povo2.0. Starting October 7, 2025, the companies will introduce a new set of offerings known as 'Regular Toppings'. These include the highly requested 5GB data plan for just 1,380 yen for a period of 30 days.

Previously, customers had the option to select limited-time 'Special Toppings', but now popular options like 60GB (for 365 days), 90GB (for 90 days), and 180GB (for 180 days) will also be available indefinitely as part of the new 'Regular Toppings' lineup. This change caters to the increasing demand from users for larger data allowances at more economical prices. Users have been actively seeking ways to enjoy more data over extended periods, and this new structure aims to provide just that.

The povo2.0 service differs from traditional monthly plans, enabling users to customize their experience with various 'Toppings' based on their individual needs. The data usage trends among povo2.0 subscribers indicate a consistent rise, underscoring the necessity of adaptable data options.

New Additions to 'Regular Toppings'

1. 5GB for 1,380 yen (30 days)
This new topping is designed for customers who find the current 3GB option insufficient, as average monthly usage among 3GB plan users exceeds 3GB. The addition of a 5GB plan is an ideal solution for those who require more data but still appreciate the flexibility of a short-term commitment.

2. 60GB for 13,200 yen (365 days)
This option allows users to enjoy 5GB monthly for just 1,100 yen. It presents significant savings, amounting to a 3,360 yen discount when compared to purchasing the 5GB plan twelve times consecutively over 12 months.

3. 90GB for 7,980 yen (90 days)
Monthly access to 30GB for 2,660 yen makes this an appealing choice. Customers opting for this plan will save 360 yen compared to purchasing the equivalent data in three monthly installments of 30GB.

4. 180GB for 14,880 yen (180 days)
This topping allows access to 30GB per month for a cost of 2,480 yen, translating to a significant saving of 1,800 yen compared to a standard purchase of 30GB over six months.

In line with these new additions, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will also phase out certain offerings. Specifically, the '20GB (30 days)' and '300GB (365 days)' options will be discontinued effective October 20, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
