TriStar Bank Kicks Off Community Engagement with First Day of Service
TriStar Bank's First Day of Service
In a heartfelt initiative to support local communities, TriStar Bank launched its inaugural Day of Service in mid-June, where nearly 50% of its staff dedicated a day to volunteer at various nonprofit organizations throughout Middle Tennessee. This event is not just a reflection of the bank’s commitment to community service but emphasizes the crucial role that local businesses play in fostering community spirit and support.
A Day of Giving Back
On June 19, 2026, TriStar Bank employees rolled up their sleeves and engaged in various activities, including serving meals, sorting donations, assembling furniture, and sprucing up a local park. The day was filled with laughter and teamwork, showcasing the bond that formed amongst employees as they served a common purpose.
The bank's volunteers collaborated with four different local nonprofits: Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Kinsmen Redeemer Ministry, Boys & Girls Club of Maury County, and Montgomery Bell State Park. Their activities contributed hundreds of hours of much-needed support to organizations that heavily rely on community engagement and volunteer efforts.
TriStar Bank President Robby Harmon shared his insights as he painted at Montgomery Bell State Park, stating, "We walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Service days build camaraderie. We laugh together, work together, and have a good time while making a difference." This sentiment is echoed throughout the day as employees learned the importance of teamwork while giving back.
Engaging with the Community
Working at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, employees sorted through bedding, organized donated items, and even built furniture! ReStore Manager Robert Scarlett expressed gratitude for the extra hands, highlighting, "Without volunteers, we can't accomplish our mission. I'm very impressed — they're knocking it out."
Meanwhile, at Kinsmen Redeemer Ministry, volunteers prepared meals such as spaghetti and enchiladas for families in need, showcasing how even a single meal can make a significant difference in someone’s day. The Ministry Coordinator, Melba Baxter, emphasized the importance of volunteer support, noting how it enables them to effectively serve the community.
A Culture of Service
TriStar Bank’s Day of Service is part of a broader commitment to community engagement, with a goal that encourages employees to complete at least 12 hours of volunteering each year. Those who participated in this inaugural event earned eight hours of paid flex time—a meaningful incentive that underscores the bank’s dedication to community service.
"Our team has contributed over 2,000 volunteer hours in recent years through initiatives like food pantry support and financial literacy programs," Harmon mentioned. The Day of Service is the bank’s first coordinated effort to have all employees work together on community projects in a single day.
Employees invited to join this initiative were visibly moved by the opportunity to impact their community positively. Universal Banker Maggie Lewis, reflecting on her experience, said, "I'm happy to give back to the Dickson community and be a part of the community. I love coming to hike at Montgomery Bell — sometimes even during my lunch hour."
Moving Forward
The response to the Day of Service has energized not just the participants but also brought awareness to the organizations that depend on community involvement. TriStar Bank recognizes that community banking extends beyond the traditional services offered at their branches; it’s about being actively involved in improving the lives of those they serve.
Looking ahead, Harmon emphasized, "Our goal is to continue finding opportunities like these throughout the year. Serving our communities has always been part of who we are." The inaugural Day of Service may have concluded, but the commitment to community engagement certainly has not.
Founded in 2000, TriStar Bank is a locally owned community bank, dedicated to helping individuals and businesses thrive with personalized financial solutions. With over $500 million in assets and a commitment to bettering local communities, the bank has emerged not just as a financial institution but as a vital community partner.
This Day of Service is a testament to how corporate entities can effectively mobilize to serve their communities, creating a positive impact that goes far beyond finance—one meal, one bed frame, and one coat of paint at a time.
