kdc/one Strengthens Global Manufacturing by Acquiring Barony Universal in the UK
kdc/one Acquires Barony Universal
In a significant move to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and broaden its international presence, Knowlton Development Corporation, known as kdc/one, has acquired Barony Universal, the largest independent filler of personal care and household aerosol products in the UK. This acquisition strengthens kdc/one's position in the European market and enables them to expand into key fast-growing aerosol categories.
Based in Irvine, Scotland, Barony has established itself as a leading manufacturer and global exporter of aerosol products for over three decades. Their diverse range includes personal care items such as anti-perspirant sprays, dry shampoos, shaving foams, and various other household solutions. Notably, Barony exports to over 30 countries, serving prominent retailers and big brands across Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and the Americas.
A recent investment by Barony in high-speed production technology positions them for accelerated growth. With this acquisition, kdc/one anticipates expanding Barony's customer base, venturing into additional product categories, and utilizing the global resources available through kdc/one to drive further growth.
Nicholas Whitley, the CEO of kdc/one, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic acquisition, emphasizing the combination of two complementary companies that could unlock greater value for customers. He highlighted Barony's consistent market growth driven by their dedication to investing in technology, capabilities, and talent.
“Under the current management team, Barony has consistently grown and differentiated itself in the market by investing in its people, capabilities, and technology,” stated Whitley. The commitment from both companies towards innovation and quality is expected to foster a collaborative environment conducive to long-term growth.
Camille Chammas, Chairman of Barony, voiced optimism about the acquisition, viewing it as a major milestone for the company. Joining kdc/one offers Barony the scale and resources necessary to enhance customer service. Chammas looks forward to leveraging kdc/one’s rich expertise in product formulation, design, and manufacturing.
The acquisition process saw Guggenheim Securities, LLC as the financial advisor for kdc/one, while Skykapital acted on behalf of Barony. Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP led the legal counsel for kdc/one, alongside Jones Day for Barony.
