HITOHATA x Ōkijū Buyōdan Special Performance: MAI - The Immersive Nihon Buyo
HITOHATA, under the leadership of Takumi Higashiyama, has launched ticket sales for the special performance
MAI - The Immersive Nihon Buyo, running from February 6 to February 15, 2026, at two venues in Osaka, Japan. This event promises to enrich the night sky of Osaka with an enchanting fusion of traditional Japanese dance and state-of-the-art digital art.
Event Overview
The performance, produced by HITOHATA and presented by the acclaimed Ōkijū Buyōdan, will showcase classical Nihon Buyo masterpieces paired with breathtaking projection mapping that transforms the stage into a digital art spectacle. Attendees will witness the beauty and spirituality of Japan’s rich traditional arts, as visual elements dramatically shift in response to the dance narratives.
Date and Venue
MAI is scheduled for two weekends across two venues:
1.
February 6 (Fri) - 8 (Sun) at Knowledge Theater, Grand Front Osaka.
2.
February 13 (Fri) - 15 (Sun) at ABC Hall.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the performance begins at 7:00 PM, concluding around 7:45 PM, with a photography and interaction session until approximately 8:15 PM. Note that the end time may vary depending on the flow of the performance.

Performance Highlights
The program features beloved kabuki dances and shamisen classics such as
Fuji Musume,
Shunkō Kyōshishi, and
Da Satsuma. By merging these timeless Japanese forms with immersive digital projections, the performance aims to offer audiences a multidimensional experience that's both mesmerizing and intellectually engaging. The visuals will adapt dynamically to the unfolding dance narratives, inviting spectators into an enthralling world of immersive storytelling.
Ticketing Information
Tickets are priced at 3,500 yen (tax included), and prior registration is required for attendance. Additional tickets may be available on-site at regular prices only if seating capacity has not been reached. Capacity per performance ranges from 300-350 guests.
Prior to the performance date, we kindly request that attendees refrain from bringing unaccompanied children. Guests under 18 are required to obtain parental consent when registering.
