MIGNON: The Bakery Specializing in Mini Croissants Opens in Tachikawa

MIGNON: A New Mini Croissant Experience in Tachikawa

The beloved mini croissant specialty shop, MIGNON, is finally making its debut in Tachikawa, set to officially open on October 3, 2025, at the Grande Duo shopping complex. This marks an exciting expansion for the franchise that has been delighting taste buds for over 30 years, initially starting in Hakata, Kyushu.

A Legacy of Flavor

MIGNON has established itself as Japan's first mini croissant specialty store since its founding in 1996. With a keen focus on providing high-quality products, the brand has grown to operate twelve locations across the country, charming customers with its unique offerings. The flagship store in Hakata remains a hotspot, attracting around 3,000 visitors daily and selling an impressive 18 million mini croissants each year – that’s an average of 50,000 croissants each day!

Tachikawa’s new outlet will be the fourth store in the Tokyo metropolitan area, following successful openings in Ikebukuro in December 2020, Omiya in April 2022, and Shinjuku in December 2022. Each store has quickly gained popularity, consistently selling over 10,000 croissants every day.

Unique Baking Method

MIGNON takes pride in its hand-folding technique, which has been a cornerstone of its recipes since inception. Unlike mass-produced options, each mini croissant is meticulously made by hand to achieve an unparalleled texture: crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Currently, the bakery produces over 160,000 croissants daily through this artisanal method across its locations.

Furthermore, MIGNON is credited with creating the iconic chocolate croissant, known for its rich flavor derived from a uniquely crafted dough that incorporates solid chocolate, providing a delightful crunchy texture.

Exciting Menu Offerings

The menu at the Tachikawa store will feature an array of flavors that cater to various palates. Besides the classic plain croissant, customers can anticipate the standout chocolate version, seasonal specialties, and even a unique 'mentaiko' (cod roe) croissant inspired by Kyushu’s culinary traditions. Each croissant comes drizzled with an original syrup infused with liqueurs, ensuring a perfectly balanced sweetness that tantalizes the taste buds without overwhelming them.

For those who wish to sample a little of everything, MIGNON will offer enticing combo deals and special set menus designed to satisfy both newcomers and loyal patrons. An exclusive almond croissant will be available at the opening, adding to the excitement.
