TCL X5: A Revolutionary Energy Storage Solution Now in Europe
TCL X5: A Revolutionary Energy Storage Solution in Europe
TCL SunPower, recognized as a leader in solar energy innovations, has officially launched its TCL X5 industrial hybrid energy storage system in Europe. This latest offering is designed to cater specifically for commercial and industrial clients, providing a significant upgrade from both residential solutions and large-scale custom installations. The launch signifies TCL's commitment to expanding its portfolio beyond solar generation.
The TCL X5 is a compact and efficient energy storage unit that integrates a 50kW hybrid inverter directly within its cabinet. The pre-assembled design not only simplifies the installation process but also reduces on-site labor, making it an ideal solution for small to medium-sized commercial enterprises. Traditional commercial storage systems typically require extensive installation processes with separate inverters that must be mounted and wired on-site, resulting in higher costs. TCL's innovative approach aims to cut transport and installation costs by as much as 60%, allowing clients to benefit from a quicker and more efficient setup.
Steven Zhang, General Manager at TCL SunPower Global, remarked, "X5 represents the first step in a more substantial effort to provide a comprehensive energy portfolio for commercial and industrial applications across Europe. Over the upcoming year, our goal is to grow our offerings from hybrid storage solutions aimed at small and medium businesses to large-scale megawatt solutions. This positions us to meet a broad spectrum of customer needs effectively."
The TCL X5 is engineered to fill a market gap for commercial spaces that require more than a residential battery system but do not have the demand to justify a custom-built setup. The system supports a variety of operating modes, including on-grid, off-grid, and microgrid scenarios, ensuring versatility. It plays a critical role in allowing businesses to manage energy effectively, with features including black-start capability and rapid islanding in under 20 milliseconds. It can handle generator inputs up to 138 kVA and can be scaled from a base capacity of 50kWh/100kWh to as much as 400kWh by connecting additional units.
TCL designed the X5 cabinet to be compact, measuring just 1.90 meters in height and 1.37 square meters in footprint, which makes it suitable for installations in various locations, including rooftops and outdoor industrial sites. With a robust construction rated IP66 for the inverter and IP55 for the cabinet, it is built to endure a wide range of environmental conditions, operating safely in temperatures from -30°C to 50°C. Safety features integrated into the system include fire suppression mechanisms, gas detection, and interruptions for arc faults, further securing its operation.
The initial deployment of the TCL X5 has already begun to showcase its flexibility. In Spain, the company Electricidad EUFON successfully transformed an existing off-grid solar water-pumping system into a hybrid solution using the X5. This upgrade allows for the storage of surplus solar energy that previously went unused, thus extending the operational hours of the pumping system into the evening and reducing reliance on diesel generators.
Adolfo Bartolomé Redondo, Head of Renewable Energy at Electricidad EUFON said, "The TCL X5 facilitated a remarkable upgrade of our solar water-pumping system, enabling us to harness stored energy effectively without having to expand our solar array. Its integrated architecture and compatibility with automation systems make it an efficient and robust solution for our irrigation needs."
Now available across Europe, the TCL X5 comes with comprehensive technical support, encompassing installation guidance, commissioning, and warranty service. Interested parties can delve deeper into the system and learn more about its capabilities during a webinar hosted by TCL SunPower alongside pv magazine on October 23. Registrations for this informative session can be accessed via TCL's official website.
