Kyushu University and Hyojito Collaborate on Universal Design Maps for Everyone

Creating Inclusive Maps: Hyojito and Kyushu University's Collaboration



In an effort to promote inclusivity and accessibility, Hyojito Co., Ltd., headquartered in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative in collaboration with Kyushu University. The goal is to develop public maps that embrace universal design principles, making sure that individuals with different visual abilities can access information equally. This partnership comes at an essential time when the demand for accessibility continues to rise, especially following the amended Act on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities, which took effect in April 2024.

Hyojito has been at the forefront of implementing color-blind friendly maps in train stations, city halls, and tourist information centers across Japan. These maps aim to eliminate barriers posed by color perception differences, thereby fostering an equitable society where everyone can access the same information freely.
