Michter's Distillery Unveils the 2025 Edition of Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey

Michter's Distillery, renowned for its fine American whiskeys, is gearing up to launch the 2025 Edition of Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey. This highly sought-after release is set to ship in February 2026 and marks a notable milestone as it's only the fifth edition to hit the shelves since its inception.

This year's release will be limited to just 315 bottles, making it a rare gem for collectors and connoisseurs alike. The whiskey is bottled at a notable 115.2 proof (57.6% ABV) and carries a suggested retail price of $6,000 per bottle in the United States. Selection for this special edition included only seven barrels from Michter's aging stocks, consisting of four barrels of Kentucky Straight Rye and three barrels of Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

Joseph J. Magliocco, president of Michter's, reflected on the artistry involved in creating this limited edition, stating, "Each release of Michter's Celebration is truly distinctive and cannot be replicated. This exceptional whiskey is a symphony crafted over decades under the watchful eyes of Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. Each bottle of the 2025 Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey will be elegantly packaged in a special gift box, which includes a letter signed by Dan McKee, the master distiller. He expressed his pride in personally selecting the barrels for this edition, stating, "It’s thrilling to know that the whiskey from these seven extraordinary barrels ranges from over 12 years old to more than 30 years old. The older barrels deliver just the right amount of oak influence while allowing the delicate nuances of the younger ryes and bourbons to shine."

Originally introduced in 2013, Michter’s Celebration Sour Mash has redefined the landscape of American whiskey, offering a blend that commands a premium price and establishes a new echelon within the whiskey world. In October 2025, Michter’s achieved yet another milestone, being recognized for three consecutive years as The World’s Most Admired Whiskey by an international voting academy convened by the UK-based Drinks International.
