Presently serving as Principal and CEO of AMDC Consulting LLC, a firm specializing in transportation strategic advisories, Fernandez previously held a significant role as the 15th Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). During her tenure from 2021, she managed an impressive annual budget of over $20 billion that focused on enhancing infrastructure and advancing technology within the nation’s transit systems.

Fernandez’s first encounter with the FTA was in 1999 when she was appointed as Acting Administrator after serving as Deputy Administrator. Her dual leadership roles emphasize her expertise and capability in driving transportation innovation throughout her career.

Her impressive career also includes senior positions at various esteemed transportation authorities, including the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Chicago Transit Authority, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Moreover, she served as the Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation and chaired several influential boards, such as the American Public Transportation Association and the Mineta Transportation Institute Board of Trustees.
