Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in international negotiations and conferences concerning climate change and environmental science. The responsibilities include:
- - Negotiation and Information Gathering: Engage in negotiations on scientific and technological matters at international environmental conferences such as the IPCC, UNFCCC, GEO, Future Earth, and IPBES.
- - International Cooperation Research: Assist in planning and investigating international cooperation related to environmental science and technology.
- - Coordination: Liaise with international organizations and relevant countries, ensuring smooth communication between involved parties including domestic ministries.
The role requires participation in international conferences, which may involve travel abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
1.
Educational Background: Must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university or a foreign equivalent.
2.
Work Experience: A minimum of four years of relevant work experience is necessary.
3.
Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate effectively on specialized topics in English at international meetings and write and read specialized documents (such as international meeting materials, technical documents, and academic papers) in English.
4.
Expertise: Candidates should have knowledge and experience in international cooperation and related areas, preferably in:
- Science and technology policy
- Global environmental issues or Earth observation
5.
Citizenship: Must hold Japanese citizenship and not fall under the disqualifications stated in the National Public Service Act.
Working Conditions
- - Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6:15 PM with a 1-hour lunch break.
- - Location: MEXT, Research and Development Bureau, Environment and Energy Division, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
- - Compensation: Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience, following relevant regulations.
