X-girl's New Uniform for Mynavi Sendai Ladies
X-girl, a streetwear brand operated by Beez International, has created a vibrant new uniform for the Mynavi Sendai Ladies, a team competing in Japan's WE League. This initiative is part of a broader revitalization effort, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake through symbolism and design.
In a collaborative effort with local students, the design process began with a public call for submissions from experts attending vocational schools and universities across Tohoku. This initiative attracted a remarkable 182 entries, from which the design created by Tomohisa Koizumi, a second-year student at Sendai Aoba Gakuin College, was ultimately selected after a final presentation round. Esteemed judges included players from Mynavi Sendai Ladies, and representatives from Beez International. Koizumi's winning concept, “Light of Victory and Hope,” is rooted in the colors of victory associated with the historical figure Date Masamune, specifically a deep navy blue complemented by 15 colorful sashes symbolizing hope and aspirations.
Design Inspiration
Koizumi expressed that the vibrant shades chosen for both the players’ field uniforms and the goalkeeper's attire were meticulously crafted to embody the strength and hopes of the Tohoku region. The field player’s uniform features the illustrious winning blue, enriched with designs resembling the colorful decorations of the Sendai Tanabata Festival, reflecting the aspirations for recovery and the bright spirit of the region. The goalkeeper's uniform adopts a passionate red hue, representing the fiery spirit and determination that both players and fans share in the hope for recovery from past tragedies.

As part of the
revitalization support initiative, the Mynavi Sendai Ladies will host a series of matches in March, aligning with the anniversary of the earthquake.
