Experience the Future of Healthcare with Eco Activities for Families
On August 2, 2025, the LOOP Nakano Picture Book Lounge in Nakano, Tokyo, will host a special event titled "Challenge! Eco Activities in Healthcare: Come, See, and Try the SDGs in Medicine!" This event is sponsored by Astellas Pharma Inc. and supported by the Nakano Health and Welfare Department. Geared towards families and community members, the initiative aims to address Japan's pressing healthcare challenges, including an aging population and labor shortages. By promoting sustainable healthcare practices, the event seeks to inspire participants to understand and engage in eco-friendly medical activities that can benefit their health and that of future generations.
Event Overview
As Japan faces heightened social security costs due to a declining birthrate and aging population, access to new medications for patients is becoming critically strained. The event introduces the concept of "Eco-Health (Ecology & Economy)," emphasizing the importance of individual actions in tackling these significant societal issues. Educating children about preventable diseases and promoting appropriate healthcare usage is essential for safeguarding their future health.
To facilitate a fun and engaging learning experience, the event will feature a participatory musical play performed on a small stage at the venue, directed by the theater company Nijiiro Bunny, known for its performances in kindergartens and elementary schools. The production, "The Forest of Tomorrow and the Spring of Miral," emphasizes the theme of medical eco-activities, designed to be both entertaining and informative. The event will also include special guest appearances by Professor Michiko Ohara from the Teikyo Heisei University Faculty of Pharmacy.
Additionally, attendees can enjoy various activities throughout the day, including a "Body Check Corner" and an area featuring picture books focused on health, medicine, and wellness, all designed to encourage learning and exploration in a festive atmosphere.
The Eco-Health event at LOOP Nakano is part of a three-part series, with the second installment scheduled for November 15, 2025, and the third for March 21, 2026.
