Norbert Health Secures Major Funding for Healthcare Robots

Norbert Health, a company at the forefront of utilizing artificial intelligence in healthcare, recently announced its successful raise of $14 million in Series A funding. This financing round is led by Cardinal Group's William A. Marino and includes contributions from notable investors such as Exor Seeds and CareIT alongside influential angel investors like Alexis Le-Quoc and Olivier Pomel from Datadog, Saeju Jeong of Noom, and Thomas Clozel from Owkin.

This funding comes at a critical time as the U.S. healthcare system faces a severe nursing shortage, with nearly one million nursing positions unfilled. Alex Winter, CEO and co-founder of Norbert Health, pointed out that the challenges faced by nursing staff are intensifying, driving many trained professionals away from bedside care. Their innovative solution proposes to mitigate the growing burdens on nurses through the deployment of autonomous robotic nursing assistants equipped with essential clinical skills.

Norbert Health’s robots are designed to perform functions like making rounds, capturing vital signs without physical contact, conducting assessments, and managing patient requests. The integration of these robots is changing the landscape of patient care by enabling seamless documentation of every encounter into electronic health records (EHRs). The technology allows these robots to navigate their environment effectively, carry loads, and interact with both patients and healthcare staff, enhancing the workflow within clinical settings.

A significant factor in the success of these robots is their proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) system which underpins their clinical capabilities. The AI stack includes contactless physiological monitoring, mobility tracking, cognitive assessments, and behavioral analytics. With these capabilities, the robots can converse with patients across diverse communication styles, conduct structured evaluations, and coordinate care efficiently with staff members. This increased interaction aims to identify clinical changes that could lead to hospital readmissions or acute health events, allowing nurses to devote more time to personalized patient care.

Since launching their technology in August 2025, Norbert Health reports a remarkable 96% acceptance rate among patients in skilled nursing facilities where their robots are operational. Additionally, the compliance rate for monitoring has reached 82%, which is significantly higher than traditional manual monitoring processes. Healthcare teams have expressed that these robots facilitate early detection of potential acute health issues, effectively intervening before they escalate into more serious problems.

Filippo Monteleone, President and Founder of CareIT, acknowledged the company’s accomplishments, stating that Norbert is one of the few physical AI enterprises to be effectively integrated into live clinical operations.
