Terra Charge Achieves Significant Milestone in EV Charging Infrastructure
Terra Charge Inc., headquartered in Minato City, Tokyo, has announced a remarkable achievement in its EV charging service, surpassing
35,000 total installed EV chargers in Japan as of February 26, 2026. This includes the completion of
1,005 rapid chargers, marking a critical step in the ongoing transition to electric vehicles (EVs) across the nation.
Rapid Growth in EV Infrastructure
Since the launch of its services in April 2022, Terra Charge has rapidly expanded its infrastructure, reaching this milestone in just 3 years and 10 months. The achievement is not merely a reflection of numbers, but a testament to the growing acceptance and integration of EV charging infrastructure into Japanese society.
The backdrop of this growth is the urgent need for improved EV charging solutions in light of Japan's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has set an ambitious target of installing
300,000 EV chargers across Japan by 2030, underscoring the government’s efforts to enhance charging convenience nationwide.
Currently, approximately
68,000 charging points are operational throughout the country, with Terra Charge contributing significantly to this network. Their flexible solutions accommodate various customer needs, aiming to ensure that EV charging is accessible at home, during travel, or at public facilities.
Strategic Development of Charging Infrastructure
In an effort to tackle the infrastructure challenges faced by EVs, particularly in residential complexes where obtaining consensus is often challenging, Terra Charge launched a free EV charger installation plan in April 2022.
Following this initiative, the company focused not only on residential areas, but has also provided charging solutions to hotels, commercial facilities, and public spaces everywhere nationwide. This broad approach aims to make EVs a feasible choice for all consumers.
The recent accomplishment of over
35,269 total installed chargers, alongside the completion of
1,005 rapid chargers, showcases the progressive expansion of EV infrastructure. Terra Charge remains committed to further accelerating this progress, enhancing the EV charging ecosystem for users across Japan.
Tailored Charging Solutions
To build a society where EV users can charge their vehicles conveniently and reliably, Terra Charge has invested in creating a comprehensive charging network comprising both public and private charging strategies.
1.

1,000 rapid chargers and
7,000 regular chargers are installed.
2.
Private Charging: Focusing on foundational charging infrastructures in residential complexes and corporate facilities, Terra Charge has set up over
25,000 chargers, providing a stable backbone for daily EV use.
Recognizing that charging needs vary based on lifestyle and location, Terra Charge offers three distinct charger types:
EV outlets,
