The Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is set to unveil an exciting event titled Beyond 5G Ready Showcase at the Expo 2025 in Osaka-Kansai, which runs from May 26 to June 3, 2025. This showcase aims to give attendees a vivid glimpse into the transformative future shaped by next-generation communication technologies.

What is Beyond 5G?

Beyond 5G represents a leap beyond the currently pervasive 5G technology, aiming to seamlessly connect diverse users and systems across various environments and disciplines. This initiative seeks to revolutionize how we interact with technology by enhancing connectivity regardless of location or circumstances. The event will comprise three main zones:

Zone 1: Prologue Theater

In this immersive theater experience, attendees will be presented with a 180-degree screen showcasing the evolution of telecommunications, setting the stage for what lies ahead with Beyond 5G technologies. This dynamic presentation will chronicle the journey from past innovations to the expected advancements that will redefine our lives.

Zone 2: Future City Experience and Technology Stand

This interactive zone offers five unique stands where visitors can engage in simulated experiences reflecting the capabilities brought by Beyond 5G. Participants can step into fantastical environments, including outer space, the ocean, and virtual realms, to experience firsthand how these advancements will enhance daily life, leisure, and even work.

Zone 3: Exhibition on Beyond 5G Development Technologies

In this exhibition area, attendees can explore the latest technologies currently being developed under the Beyond 5G initiatives. Through informative panels, engaging videos, and actual devices, the exhibition will demonstrate innovations emanating from MIC’s Beyond 5G Fund and collaborations with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT).

The Beyond 5G Ready Showcase is scheduled as follows:

• - Time: 10 AM - 9 PM (last admission at 8 PM)
• - Location: EXPO Exhibition Center “WASSE” (North) at the Expo 2025 site
• - Admission Fee: Free (Entry ticket to Expo 2025 required)
