According to the latest report from Housecall Pro, a leading software platform for home service professionals, more than 70% of contractors in this sector have experimented with AI tools, and around 40% are now integrating them into their daily operations. This move towards technology signifies a critical juncture for an industry that has long been predominantly manual and hands-on, allowing skilled workers to focus more on their craft.
A Paradigm Shift in Operations
The Housecall Pro report emphasizes that AI adoption is not about replacing skilled labor but rather enhancing operational efficiency. More than half of the business owners under 35 are actively employing AI, demonstrating a significant generational shift in how these services are managed. Notably, small businesses are adopting AI at rates comparable to larger companies, indicating that this technology is not just a privilege for big players but accessible for everyone in the industry.
AI tools are primarily utilized for automating back-office tasks such as marketing, customer service, scheduling, and paperwork. This allows skilled tradespeople to devote more time to the jobs they excel at – fixing appliances, wiring homes, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
