SINEXCEL's StellaON Achieves TÜV SÜD Certification for German Power Grids

StellaON Receives TÜV SÜD Certification

In a significant milestone, SINEXCEL, a leading energy solutions provider, has announced the successful certification by TÜV SÜD for its power conversion systems (PCS) known as StellaON 1250K/1575K. This certification confirms that StellaON complies with the stringent standards required for the integration into Germany's medium, high, and extra-high voltage grids as specified by VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120, and 4130.

TÜV SÜD's evaluation focused on several critical performance aspects of the converters, including their ability to handle grid failures, manage active and reactive power regulation, and respond to frequency variations. The certification process combined rigorous FGW TR3 tests with a model validation under the TR4 simulation program, which forms part of the TR8 certification framework. This ensures that engineers using validated DIgSILENT PowerFactory models can accurately assess the behavior of the converters within a comprehensive energy storage installation.

The three standards applicable cover storage facilities connected to distribution networks all the way to transmission networks. Notably, VDE-AR-N 4130 pertains to networks of at least 220 kV, where connectivity requirements aim to maintain overall grid stability.

StellaON's 1250K/1575K model boasts a cold start capability and operates with an impressive efficiency of 98.5% at full load. Remarkably, it sustains its rated power at ambient temperatures up to 55°C without the risk of derating. Additionally, this system can deliver 1.5 times its rated power for a maximum of 60 seconds, enhancing its performance flexibility.

One notable feature of the StellaON system is its variable speed cooling mechanism, which keeps operational noise levels at a manageable 65 dB. This aspect ensures that the equipment can be deployed in environments where noise constraints would otherwise limit placement options. For developers and EPC contractors, this TÜV certification streamlines the selection process for power conversion systems and assists in preparing the relevant technical specifications for connection voltages.

SINEXCEL's StellaON has also achieved certifications beyond the European standard, receiving national approvals in Germany, Poland, Romania, and other markets. The system is set for deployment in various countries, including Romania, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, with pending certifications in the USA, Spain, Austria, and Chile expected by the end of 2026.

Currently, more than 15 StellaON projects are in various stages of integration, delivery, or commissioning across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and Africa. With orders totaling over 500 MW recorded in the first half of 2026, the power conversion system has also demonstrated its effectiveness in regions like Vietnam and Myanmar, successfully operating under extreme heat and humidity conditions as well as in standalone micro-grid applications.
