What is Tenkaichi BUSHOUSEI?

The event revolves around teams of five samurai dueling for the title of "Tenkaichi." It’s a culmination of sport and Sengoku spirit, bound to ignite camaraderie among participants while honoring the rich history and culture of Japan's past.

Purpose of the Event

With the 2026 NHK Taiga Drama “Toyotomi Brothers!” poised to revive interest in the Sengoku era, this event aims to bring 400 years of history and culture to life in an engaging manner. The Tenkaichi BUSHOUSEI was born out of Japan's largest and most popular “Chambara” event, which has seen over 150 gatherings each year and attracted more than 100,000 participants nationwide. Everyone, regardless of age, gender, or background, can be part of this adventure, experiencing bushido, teamwork, and the spirit of fight together.

Schedule of the Day

The competition will kick off with preliminary heats, followed by a final tournament featuring 16 teams that comprise the top 12 from the preliminary rounds among others. There will also be a friendly match called the "East-West War" after the preliminaries, showcasing reserved warriors from various teams.

Join us as the prestigious "Chambara War Commandos" will also participate in the finals while the top teams vie for the honorable title of the inaugural Tenkaichi BUSHOUSEI champion and the coveted prize of 30,000 yen!

What is Chambara?

Chambara, a beloved activity enjoyed by many, involves participants wielding soft sponge swords while attached to a colored ball representing life. It makes for an ideal shared experience where fun and communication are fostered. Already, this event type attracts over 100,000 participants through 150 annual gatherings nationwide, making it one of the top martial arts-themed events suitable for all ages and athletic abilities.

Message from the War Commandos

As we embark on this monumental journey, the War Commandos express a heartfelt desire to honor and celebrate the spirits of those actively seeking glory on the battlefield. This effort aims to shine a spotlight on the warriors and create a community where their contributions are recognized and appreciated.

Let's embrace this chance to connect with our roots, engage in spirited competition, and become one with the flowing samurai spirit!
