Collins Aerospace Enhances Avionics for Cessna Citation Jets with Pro Line 21 Upgrades

Enhancements to Cessna Citation Jets by Collins Aerospace

Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, recently unveiled its plans to implement significant upgrades to the Pro Line 21™ integrated avionics systems used in Cessna Citation business jets. The updates aim to boost functionality, usability, and overall pilot experience for various Citation models, such as the CJ1+, CJ2+, CJ3, CJ4, and XLS+.

Beginning in the latter half of 2025, current operators of these jets will have access to advanced communication features, enriched weather data, and improved connectivity across the flight deck. According to Nathan Voight, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Avionics at Collins Aerospace, these upgrades are a direct response to customer feedback, emphasizing a need for more intuitive and communicative cockpit tools.

Key Features of the Upgrades

The Pro Line 21 avionics enhancements will introduce several new features designed to enhance productivity and ensure pilots stay informed. Key functionalities will include:
  • - Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) for improved communication with air traffic control.
  • - ADS-B In weather information, providing real-time updates on weather conditions.
  • - Enhanced connectivity options to facilitate data sharing and streamline crucial information exchanges.
  • - The addition of Privacy ICAO Address, which aims to alleviate personal identity and security concerns related to avionics systems.
  • - Direct integration capabilities with electronic flight bags, allowing for smoother operational workflows.
  • - Wireless updates for databases, ensuring all necessary systems remain compliant and current without the risk of manual data entry errors.

Customer-Centric Design

The new upgrades reflect a commitment to a customer-centric design approach. This means not only enhancing existing systems but also ensuring that operators feel more connected to their aircraft. The Pro Line 21 suite will make the cockpit environment more accommodating, letting pilots concentrate on flying rather than managing technology.

As technology continues to advance, Collins Aerospace remains focused on delivering modern solutions that prepare their clients for today's demands and tomorrow's opportunities. Customers can schedule upgrades through Textron Aviation or one of the authorized dealers linked with Collins Aerospace.
