Trinasolar's Innovative Efforts to Revive the Gobi Desert



In the arid expanses of the Gobi Desert, located in Jinta County, Gansu Province, China, rows of solar panels are turning barren sands into a vibrant landscape of renewable energy. Trinasolar, a leading global solar module producer, has supplied its high-performance Vertex series modules to a massive project aimed at boosting clean energy production and environmental restoration.

A Beacon of Clean Energy Production



Recently inaugurated, this impressive 500 MW solar plant has commenced operations at full capacity, harnessing the power of sunshine—approximately 3,200 hours of usable sunlight per year. This environmentally friendly initiative generates around 736.5 million kWh of electricity annually. In doing so, it effectively saves roughly 300,000 tons of standard coal while cutting carbon dioxide emissions by over 800,000 tons and particulate emissions by nearly 4,000 tons.

Technology Behind Vertex Modules



The Vertex modules developed by Trinasolar are built on a cutting-edge 210 mm technology platform, which allows them to deliver high power outputs, superior efficiency, and long-term reliability. Such attributes not only minimize the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) but also ensure stable energy yields in harsh environmental conditions, which may include droughts and sandstorms.

Cao Yunduan, Head of Global Brand Strategy and Marketing at Trinasolar, emphasized that this project transcends mere energy production; it serves as an illustration of how solar power can actively restore degraded lands. Positive Environmental Impacts



The solar panels have also played a role in combating land degradation. By reducing surface temperatures, decreasing water evaporation, and mitigating wind and sand erosion, these solar installations contribute positively to the local ecosystem.
