Central Storage & Warehouse Expands Its Capacity in Caledonia
In an exciting development for the Midwest's cold storage sector, Central Storage & Warehouse (CSW) has announced the completion of its third expansion at its facility in Caledonia, Wisconsin. With this latest expansion, the company has added an impressive 15,000 frozen pallet positions, a move aimed at bolstering support for its strategic partners operating in the Wisconsin market.
CSW, a company with a legacy dating back to 1947, has steadily constructed its reputation as a premier provider of temperature-controlled warehouse services. The new expansion marks a significant milestone as it is the largest building by cubic feet in the history of CSW, according to Hill Hamrick, Co-CEO of CSW. He emphasized, "This expansion was absolutely essential to supporting our customers' continued growth and is a testament to our warehouse team's ability to deliver best in class customer services."
The facility, now standing at over 334,000 square feet, is outfitted with 32 dock doors and a total of 37,500 pallet positions. Originally constructed in 2019, the Caledonia site has seen expansions in 2023, 2024, and now in 2025, demonstrating CSW's ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of its clients. This newly expanded space allows for a variety of value-added services, including cross-docking capabilities, a drop trailer lot, and is USDA inspection certified for both import and export services.
Strategically located in Southwest Wisconsin, CSW Caledonia aims to streamline the storage and distribution needs of its customers in the Midwest and beyond. Its prime access points to I-94 and proximity to major cities like Milwaukee (19 miles) and Chicago (74 miles) position it well for effectively handling frozen commodities such as retail foods, foodservice products, and related perishables.
With a focus on custom cold storage solutions and diverse temperature options designed to cater to a variety of client needs, CSW insists on maintaining the highest standards in food safety. The company leverages state-of-the-art warehouse management technology to further enhance service reliability, flexibility, and responsiveness. As CSW continues to expand its facilities and capabilities, customers can expect exceptional service that caters to their specific logistical requirements.
In addition to the significant expansion in Caledonia, CSW has been actively pursuing growth opportunities. Recently, they welcomed Jennifer Jung as Chief Financial Officer and have also acquired W R Cold Storage, showcasing their commitment to improving operations and meeting customer demands.
The completion of this latest expansion underscores CSW's dedication to supporting its customers, contained within the broader context of a booming cold storage industry which has seen increasing demand due to heightened focus on food safety and efficient distribution channels.
As CSW paves the way for enhanced storage capabilities, their ongoing initiatives highlight the vital role that cold storage facilities play in the overall supply chain, especially for perishable goods. The future looks bright for Central Storage & Warehouse, as they continue to innovate and adapt to the evolving landscape of the logistics industry.
