Trailhead Group Signs Manufacturing Agreement with Kikusui for Fresh Noodles

Trailhead Group's Strategic Partnership with Kikusui

In a significant move within the food industry, Trailhead Global Holdings, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, has announced a formal agreement to collaborate with Kikusui, a leading name in the noodle manufacturing sector. This partnership is not just about production; it represents a merging of culinary traditions and advanced manufacturing techniques aimed at enhancing the quality and variety of fresh household ramen in Japan.

A Promising Collaboration

Trailhead's partnership with Kikusui is facilitated through its subsidiary, YS Food, located in the Tagawa district of Fukuoka. The agreement encompasses the contract manufacturing of Kikusui's brand of fresh ramen products and signifies a strategic effort to streamline operations targeted primarily at the Kyushu and Shikoku regions of Japan.

Both companies are poised to utilize their respective expertise to establish a co-creative production system that combines the culinary artistry and dedication of YS Food with Kikusui's stringent quality control and noodle-making technology. This synergy aims to transcend traditional contract manufacturing, channeling a shared passion for producing high-value household products.

Focus on the Western Japan Supply Sphere

The new contract pegs YS Food's factory in Kagawa Town, Fukuoka, as a critical manufacturing hub, aimed at ensuring efficient product distribution to the Kyushu and Shikoku regions. Leveraging the established production capabilities of this facility, the companies strive to maintain a stable supply chain that can reliably meet the demands of a broader market. Through this manufacturing setup, they're determined to deliver exceptional dining experiences right to consumers' tables.

As a testament to this commitment, the collective know-how developed through YS Food’s extensive experience in the food service sector will enhance manufacturing management, paving the way for new growth initiatives.

Optimizing Supply Chains and Energizing the Market

By capitalizing on the resources of both companies, they aim to swiftly adapt to changing consumer preferences in the increasingly competitive market of household ramen. The scope of this partnership aims at optimizing supply chains, thus facilitating a nimble product lineup that aligns closely with consumer desires.

Looking Ahead

Considering the complexities of global supply chains that have arisen amidst increasing geopolitical tensions and escalating commodity prices, Trailhead and Kikusui have strategically postponed the initial production timeline to ensure the quality and stability of their offerings. The revised schedule now aims for production to commence between late August and early September 2026.

For the current fiscal year ending in March 2027, the goal is to manufacture and supply approximately 100,000 servings monthly, amounting to a total of 600,000 to 700,000 servings for the year. These products are projected to be included in major retail chains as seasonal offerings for the autumn and winter seasons. This measured approach will help ensure a smooth start to their new business endeavor while optimizing operational efficiency and establishing a reliable profit stream.

As part of their broader strategic vision, Trailhead intends to enhance distribution channels, including discount stores and private brand products, thereby expanding their market presence progressively.

This collaboration with Kikusui marks a significant step in Trailhead's ambition to expand its OEM business, focusing on maximizing production efficiency while also building proven track records that will foster additional partnerships in contracted manufacturing. By developing a robust revenue structure through both BtoC and BtoB pathways, Trailhead aims to elevate its shareholder value and solidify its market position.
