Experience the Magic of Wind Forest Bazaar 2026

The highly anticipated second edition of the Wind Forest Bazaar will take place on July 18 (Saturday) and July 19 (Sunday) at Suwa Seventh Park in the Suwa Nagayama area of Tamagawa New Town. This vibrant festival, which originally debuted in February, attracted over 4,000 attendees, making it a resounding success. The event is orchestrated by renowned musician Daisuke Kanemura, known for both his craftsmanship in music and as the owner of the caravan 'Kaze to Caravan', along with a diverse group of unique vendors from the Tamagawa region. It promises to foster exciting encounters and exchanges through a fusion of music and food, creating a bridge from Tamagawa New Town to the world.

Festive Highlights

The Wind Forest Bazaar will feature both a lively evening market (Irish Night) and a bustling morning market.

Evening Market (July 18): From 3 PM to 9 PM, the festivities will kick off with a vibrant performance from 'VARIOUS COLORS', a talented group of local children. Following the performance, Daisuke Kanemura will host an engaging Irish music session, inviting attendees to participate by playing instruments or dancing—everyone is welcome to join the fun! Additionally, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, there will be an Irish dance workshop for beginners, guided by an instructor.

As the night unfolds, a special collaborative stage featuring Tamagawa-born actor Kiou Okuyama and the 'Karugamo Danchi' troupe will unfold, delving into the rich history and warmth of Tamagawa New Town through a musical theatre production.

Morning Market (July 19): From 8 AM to 2 PM, the excitement continues with dazzling performances including a belly dance show by 'miyu', a rising 15-year-old singer-songwriter Yuzuki, and the creative performance group 'Kikongakumeiza'. Not to mention, appearances by local superhero characters like 'Tamagawa New Town Man' and 'Guren Haoh Arus' will delight attendees.

Families can enjoy a unique experience at the 'Talking Pony Farm', with interactive sessions on July 19 only. Also, the regional mascot, Nagadon, will make a visit, bringing along acorns and cheers on both days.

Participating vendors include 'Kaze to Caravan' alongside approximately 20 unique stalls featuring:
  • - 'Musubi Me', focused on creating family-friendly spaces
  • - 'Kaizetsudo', known for delectable baked goods made with locally sourced ingredients
  • - 'Tama Minami Seikatsu Club', offering safe and delicious product samples
  • - 'Watashi no Mushipan', specializing in steamed bread using unique yeast
  • - Talented students from 'Tama University Affiliated Seigaoka High School'

Additional culinary experiences await as local shops like the natural wine cafe and library, 'Modoki', and the British-style cafe 'PUDDLEBY' are anticipated to be open and serving delightful offerings during the event.

A Renewed Tamagawa New Town

Since its inception in 1971, Tamagawa New Town has continually buzzed with fresh experiences under the motto of 'Always NEW in Living'. The region is seeing new life with renovations in the Suwa Nagayama area, providing a blend of old charm and modern developments. Recent surveys indicate a significant drop in vacant housing rates as younger families choose to move in, indicating a dynamic participatory approach to community building across generations.
