A Record-Breaking Season



In an impressive exhibition of word mastery, Vocabulary.com has announced the victors of the Fall 2024 Vocabulary Bowl, the largest academic contest dedicated to vocabulary enhancement. This season witnessed over 175,000 learners and 5,600 teachers from 1,800 schools across 75 countries showcasing their vocabulary prowess, combining to master 5.15 million words throughout the duration of this academic challenge.

What made this season particularly unique was the introduction of new competitive divisions. Schools, teachers, and independent learners were able to compete regionally and globally, thus expanding participation and inclusivity in vocabulary learning.

Celebrating the Champions



The Fall 2024 champion for Division I, which encompasses high schools with over 1,000 students, was none other than Saint Thomas Aquinas High School located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This powerhouse achieved an astonishing 122,000 mastered words, surpassing their previous season by 11,000 words and leading the runner-up, Etiwanda High School, by nearly 50,000 words.

Aside from Saint Thomas Aquinas, several other schools have also marked their places in this vocabulary odyssey. Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy claimed first in its division for the sixth consecutive season, solidifying its reputation as a leader in vocabulary competition.

Newcomers Making Waves



Amongst the schools earning recognition for the first time were Carnegie Vanguard High School, Millburn Middle School, Great Neck North Middle School, and Muscatel Middle School, who each took top honors in their respective divisions. École Jeannine Manuel from Paris, France, made history as the first international champion of this event, emphasizing the global engagement encouraged by the Vocabulary Bowl.
