Collins Aerospace Secures Significant Order for Advanced Navigation Systems from U.S. Army

Collins Aerospace, a prominent sector of RTX, has recently finalized its fourth contract to supply Mounted Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing Generation II systems, known as MAPS Gen II, to U.S. military branches. This order is valued at an impressive $95 million, underscoring the growing demand for sophisticated navigation solutions in modern combat scenarios. The MAPS Gen II systems are designed to enhance navigation capabilities in contested environments, proving crucial during multi-domain operations.

The MAPS Gen II systems are engineered to resist jamming and spoofing attacks, effectively safeguarding vehicles from electronic warfare threats. By integrating sensor data, including satellite navigation and terrain mapping, the systems ensure that both crewed and uncrewed ground vehicles maintain accurate positioning and timing, critical for mission success. As warfare technology evolves, the need for resilient navigation systems becomes paramount, which is why Collins Aerospace is responding to this demand by developing advanced solutions tailored to today’s battlefield requirements.

"As the landscape of warfare becomes increasingly complex, we are witnessing a heightened urgency for robust navigation systems capable of enduring electronic countermeasures," stated Philippe Limondin, Vice President and General Manager for Resilient Navigation Solutions at Collins Aerospace. The partnership with the U.S. Army aims to expedite the deployment of MAPS Gen II systems while optimizing cost, thereby ensuring that these vital systems are accessible across various military branches without delay.

Collins Aerospace is expanding its production capabilities to meet the growing demand for MAPS Gen II systems. Besides enhancing the existing offerings, the company is also focusing on developing aftermarket installation kits. These kits are intended to simplify the fielding process, making it easier to retrofit existing military vehicles with the new technology, thereby maximizing operational efficiency.

The MAPS Gen II system consists of the NavHub™-100 navigation system and the Multi-Sensor Antenna System (MSAS-100). Its modular design allows for scalability, making it suitable for various applications, including combat operations, artillery coordination, air and missile defense, and logistical support in challenging environments. This adaptability is particularly valuable as the military addresses diverse mission needs.
