Hurom Wins Important Patent Infringement Case Against NUC(Kuvings) on Amazon

Hurom's Triumph in Patent Infringement Against NUC (Kuvings)

In a landmark decision, Hurom, a world leader in juicing technology, has successfully enforced its patent rights against the well-known brand NUC, also known as Kuvings, on the Amazon platform in the United States. This ruling, which became effective on December 2, 2024, has resulted in a sales ban on several key models of Kuvings juicers, reshaping the competitive landscape in the juicing industry.

Since its inception in 1974, Hurom has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of juicing technology. The company gained recognition for inventing the world's first vertical slow juicer in 2005, setting a new industry standard and significantly influencing consumer choices regarding health and wellness products. Hurom’s relentless pursuit of health promotion through innovative technologies has allowed it to carve a unique niche in the market.

However, in recent years, Hurom has noted a worrying trend regarding the unauthorized use of its patented technology across global markets including China, the United States, and Europe. To combat this, the company unveiled a comprehensive patent enforcement strategy aimed at protecting its core technologies. This proactive approach underlines Hurom's commitment to ensuring that its innovations are respected and protected worldwide.

The latest ruling came through Amazon's APEX (Amazon Patent Evaluation Express) procedure, which was initiated following Hurom's report of alleged patent infringement. A neutral third-party evaluator reviewed the complaint and ruled that certain NUC juicer models indeed violated Hurom's patents. The decision effectively led to a ban on the sale of five specific Kuvings models—REVO830W, EVO820GM, C7000S, C7000W, and C7000P—across more than nine different supplier accounts, including Kuvings USA and GlobalEcom. This ban took effect on July 11, 2024, emphasizing the seriousness of the infringement.

In response to this successful action, Hurom's intellectual property team has initiated additional legal procedures against infringing manufacturers and distributors in other markets, including Europe and Korea. The Korean Trade Commission (KTC) has also begun investigating NUC (Kuvings) for alleged unfair trading practices connected to patent infringement, further highlighting the broader implications of this case.

Hurom's CEO, Jaewon Kim, emphasized the company's resolve, stating, "We can no longer overlook the unauthorized use of Hurom's patented technology. Through decisive actions, we will protect the healthy and fair ecosystem both Hurom and our customers value. Yet, consistent with our patent licensing policy, we remain open to allowing genuine users access to our patented technology to foster a shared commitment to wellness."

This ruling not only serves as a significant victory for Hurom but also sets a precedent in the juicing industry regarding the enforcement of patent rights. As the market continues to evolve with growing competition and innovation, Hurom's commitment to protecting its technological advancements signals a future where intellectual property rights are upheld, ensuring that innovation continues to thrive in the health and wellness sector.

As Hurom forges ahead, it remains focused on creating a healthier global ecosystem and will continue to advocate for the integrity of its technologies and innovations, thereby ensuring that consumers receive products that genuinely reflect quality and innovation.
