With the ongoing sweltering heat in Tokyo, Kayanoya, operated by Kuwahara Honke Group, is extending its initiative to offer a refreshing cold dashi drink to jinrikisha (rickshaw) drivers and customers in Asakusa. Originally scheduled from July 29 to August 11, the program has been prolonged to August 17–21 due to the overwhelming positive feedback from participants.
This initiative bridges Japanese culinary traditions with hospitality culture, where Kayanoya collaborates with Ebisya, a leading force in the jinrikisha industry. Their shared vision, to carry forth the essence of Japanese culture, stands at the heart of this effort. Not only does the program provide cold dashi to the drivers who bear the summer's heat, but it also offers sampling opportunities for local and international tourists who choose to ride in these traditional vehicles.
Since its launch on July 29, numerous rickshaw drivers have expressed their appreciation, describing the drink as ‘easy to consume on a hot day’ and ‘a refreshing break during work.’ Guests have also praised the innovative concept of enjoying dashi cold, with many expressing interest in trying it at home.
As the temperatures remain high, Kayanoya aims to support the health of the jinrikisha drivers while promoting the enticing flavors of dashi. This extended period will also involve free samplings of Kayanoya products for customers utilizing the rickshaw service, thus presenting a unique way to experience Japanese summer culture.

- - Jinrikisha drivers from Ebisya will be provided with cold dashi soup.
- - Customers who visit Ebisya’s Asakusa outlet will have the chance to sample the 'Japanese-style dashi soup' on a limited basis, available while supplies last.
