CenExel Clinical Research Network Enhances Nationwide Clinical Research Facilities

CenExel Clinical Research Network Expands Nationwide

CenExel, a prominent clinical research site network, recently announced a significant expansion of its operations across various sites in the United States, including Tampa, Denver, Anaheim, Toms River, and Atlanta. This strategic growth aims to enhance its capabilities in clinical pharmacology, early-phase studies, and metabolic research.

Investing in Infrastructure and Expertise

The expansion comprises new, purpose-built facilities that aim to optimize research operations. Notable investments include increased inpatient and outpatient capacities, as well as improved pharmacy and laboratory infrastructures. According to CenExel's CEO, Ryan Brooks, the organization's commitment to providing high-quality clinical research infrastructure remains steadfast. He stated, “By investing in our investigators, facilities and capabilities, our sponsors and CRO partners will now have expanded access to highly experienced teams and operational excellence nationwide.”

Tampa, Florida

In Tampa, CenExel has constructed over 10,000 square feet of dedicated research space adjacent to its existing facility. This expansion is designed for efficiency in patient flow, featuring:
  • - Five private inpatient rooms and five outpatient exam rooms
  • - Five dedicated rating/intake rooms
  • - A psychedelic dosing area and Schedule I drug storage room
  • - Infusion capabilities
  • - Partnerships with top imaging vendors
  • - Space for CNS prescreening and intake
  • - Cutting-edge pharmacy and lab facilities
  • - Full patient kitchen, dining, and common spaces

The Tampa site also anticipates new developments in neurology-related research later in 2026, focusing on disorders such as movement and Parkinson's disease.

Denver, Colorado

In Denver, a new Phase I inpatient unit is under construction and set to open in June 2026. This facility will span over 5,300 square feet and will include 11 inpatient rooms dedicated to neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s diseases.

Anaheim, California

CenExel's Anaheim facility underwent an extensive 8,000-square-foot expansion in mid-2025, bringing on a third full-time physician sub-investigator to enhance its clinical leadership team. Together with two full-time physician assistants, this strengthens medical oversight, operational efficiency, and capacity for increasingly complex early-phase studies.

Toms River, New Jersey

In Toms River, the site is growing its clinical capabilities to address an aging demographic in the area. Local internal medicine doctors will assist as per diem investigators, focusing on metabolic and general health studies. Moreover, a board-certified obesity medicine specialist has joined the team to spearhead initiatives targeted at GLP/GIP and metabolic research.

Atlanta, Georgia

The Atlanta location has recently completed the buildout of specialized negative pressure rooms, essential for conducting studies in tobacco harm reduction and nicotine. This improvement has already facilitated the acquisition of two new research studies, showcasing CenExel's adaptability to meet specific sponsor needs.

A Forward-Looking Vision

Ryan Brooks emphasized the dual strategy of operational rigor and local site specialization, declaring, “Our goal is to combine the operational rigor of a centralized network with the therapeutic specialization and patient access of strong local sites.” These strategic enhancements position CenExel as a reliable partner in the realm of clinical development, assuring sponsors of speed, quality, and reliability.
