Slovakia Travel Opens Representation in Scandinavia to Boost Tourism
Slovakia Tourism Takes Bold Steps in Scandinavia
In a landmark move for its tourism sector, Slovakia Travel, the national organization dedicated to promoting tourism, has inaugurated its new foreign representation in Scandinavia. The official launch occurred on January 16, 2025, in the Finnish capital of Helsinki, coinciding with the prestigious Matka 2025 Nordic Travel Fair, a significant event gathering numerous travel operators and tourism agencies from around the globe.
This strategic expansion marks Slovakia's commitment to enhancing its visibility in the Nordic countries—Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark—alongside previous European engagements in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Israel. The establishment of this representation aims not only to attract tourists but also to foster stronger ties between Slovakia and the Nordic nations.
Ivana Vala Magátová, the General Director of Slovakia Travel, stated, "Our goal is to rejuvenate the relationships between the Slovak Republic and the Nordic countries, presenting Slovakia as a captivating travel destination. With efforts led by our colleague Daniela Bezáková, we are confident in gradually achieving this vision."
The event was graced by the presence of the Slovak Republic’s ambassador to Finland, Dušan Krištofík, who commended Slovakia Travel's initiative. He said, "It fills me with honor to witness a development that unites not only nations but their citizens as well. The increasing proximity between Scandinavia and Slovakia over the years is a positive step for tourism."
Scandinavian tourists predominantly visit Slovakia during the summer months, frequently exploring regions such as Bratislava. On average, they spend two nights in the country, and Vala estimates a significant potential for expanding incoming travel from these Nordic regions.
The establishment of a permanent representation in Scandinavia exemplifies Slovakia's approach to tourism marketing, offering a dedicated presence that allows for more direct engagement with potential visitors. By attending top travel fairs such as Matka, Slovakia Travel aims to showcase the diverse attractions of the country—from its rich cultural heritage and picturesque landscapes to thrilling outdoor activities and urban experiences.
The new representation also serves to enhance the dialogue between the two regions, highlighting shared interests and fostering collaborations that can lead to fruitful tourism partnerships.
By increasing its marketing efforts in this pivotal region, Slovakia hopes to build strong connections and encourage more travelers to discover the wonders of its territory. As the narrative unfolds, both Slovakia and the Nordic countries stand to gain from this exciting new chapter in tourism relations.
Indeed, with the potential growth in visitor numbers, Slovakia looks poised to firmly establish itself as a sought-after destination on the Nordic travel itinerary.
This move is seen as an essential step forward in enhancing the country's international tourism strategy, specifically targeting the well-heeled Scandinavian travelers keen on exploring new destinations. With the new representation now in place, Slovakia can look forward to a fruitful partnership with Nordic nations, fostering mutual growth in tourism and cultural exchange.
