Explore DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2025
Set to take place from
December 6 to 21, 2025, DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2025 promises to be an extraordinary showcase of international design thought, culture, and processes. Located in the heart of
Minato, Aoyama, this event not only illuminates the realm of contemporary design but also serves as a platform for emerging talents and seasoned professionals alike.
Three Weeks of Design Immersion
The event is structured into three distinct phases, each offering unique experiences:
Week 1: Class of 2025
Kickstarting the festivities,
Class of 2025 invites selected works from students recommended by educational institutions. This is a vibrant opportunity for fresh talent to engage with the public and showcase their inventive designs that reflect the newest trends and philosophies of the upcoming generation.
Week 2: Main Exhibition
The
Main Exhibition features a carefully curated selection of works chosen by an esteemed jury comprising directors from the UK, Japan, and the USA. This collective display not only promotes connectivity among creators but also ignites conversations between designers and visitors, fostering further collaborations and innovations in the design community.
Week 3: Market
As the finale, the
Market will feature over
60 designers and studios selling their unique products. This open space blurs the lines between product design and craft, with designers directly involved in their creations from concept to sale. Visitors will have the chance to interact with and purchase a wide range of products that stem from the designers’ genuine impulses to create.
A Dynamic Platform for Engagement
Through design, DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2025 encourages palpable experiences that engage beyond traditional web and social media interactions. The event facilitates a deeper connection and understanding of design's role in our lives, showcasing dialogues that are both thought-provoking and inspiring.
Extensions Across the City
In addition to the main venue, the event will host an
Extension Program, featuring various exhibitions, talks, and workshops in nearby galleries, showrooms, and hotels across the
Aoyama and Shibuya areas. This initiative aims to diverge from the main exhibition's critical dialogues, embedding them within the dynamic urban fabric of Tokyo.
Internationally Acclaimed Directors
A notable feature of the event is the involvement of a diverse roster of directors:
- - Oli Stratford: Editor of Disegno, a London-based design critique publication.
- - Monica Khemsurov & Jill Singer: Co-founders of the influential design media Sight Unseen.
- - Yuri Suzuki: An international artist transcending between sound and design, known for his innovative installations.
- - Hirosuke Akimoto: Director of furniture label E&Y, recognized for pushing forward Japanese design culture.
Together, they will bring a wealth of expertise and varied perspectives to the event, enriching the dialogue on contemporary design.
