Renewable Power Accelerator (RPX) Transforms European Transport with AI and BaaS Solutions

Renewable Power Accelerator: Leading the Charge in Electrification

Renewable Power Accelerator (formerly known as Solar Power Accelerator or SPA) has announced a strategic rebranding that highlights its dedication to revolutionizing the heavy-duty transport sector in Europe. This shift not only changes its name, but it also expands the company’s offerings to include tailored artificial intelligence (AI) and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) solutions. This transformation is set to play a crucial role in the electrification of European logistics, focusing on renewable energy sources to drive sustainability in transportation.

Originating in early 2023 and primarily focusing on installing solar energy systems on commercial and industrial buildings in Sweden, SPA successfully enabled property owners to profit from excess energy through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). However, as market conditions shifted and demand began to decline in the solar sector, the leadership at SPA recognized the need for a pivot toward electric mobility by late 2024. The outcome of this evolution is RPX, which now serves as a pivotal player in supplying renewable energy solutions for charging electric heavy-duty trucks (eHDT) across key transport corridors in Europe.

Addressing a Growing Need

Today, transportation and logistics contribute to over 25% of CO₂ emissions in the European Union, a scenario which is increasingly subjected to regulatory pressures. Projections estimate that the eHDT market will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 10% leading up to 2035. With total operating costs projected to favor electric trucks by 2027, many businesses are now moving toward realizing a greener logistics framework.

RPX aims to provide charging infrastructures powered by renewable energy, with particular emphasis on solar and wind sources. Their approach involves installing microgrids, energy storage solutions, and efficient load management systems, supported by PPAs with leading European utility providers. This ensures that charging stations are consistently supplied with renewable energy, thus facilitating the transition to electric freight transport.

Enhancing Offerings with Advanced Solutions

As part of its new comprehensive service offering, RPX introduces two additional customer value propositions:
1. AI-Powered Software: An integrated fleet management application will streamline logistics operations through features such as route planning, energy pricing controls, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and renewable energy certifications. This comprehensive tool will cater to drivers, charging station operators, and third-party logistics providers, enhancing operational efficiency.

2. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS): Developed in collaboration with leading truck manufacturers, this leasing model will achieve parity with diesel truck operating costs (TCO). BaaS will alleviate upfront costs for end-users, making the transition to electric vehicles more economically viable.

Leadership’s Vision

Pär-Olof Johannesson, co-founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about how RPX’s focus on customer-oriented, software-defined vehicle and infrastructure solutions will solidify its leadership in promoting renewable energy transitions for eHDTs. Meanwhile, William Granelli, co-founder and vice president, underlines the ongoing paradigm shift in logistics towards sustainability, as recent macroeconomic developments expose the risks associated with fossil fuel dependence and underscore the urgency for resilient, locally sourced renewable energy systems.

With projects currently underway across the Nordic region, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Poland, RPX is actively seeking funding for its expansion efforts. The transformation from Solar Power Accelerator to Renewable Power Accelerator was formally approved during an extraordinary general meeting held on April 10, 2026. This rebranding marks an important milestone in its mission to connect technology and clean energy, committing itself to a fully renewable electricity supply for the entire European transport sector.

Notably, this shift presents an enormous market opportunity, valued at several billion euros, propelled by EU regulations, corporate decarbonization goals, increasing volatility in fossil fuel prices, and rapid technological advancements. As RPX moves forward, it stands ready to lead significant contributions towards a more sustainable and electrified transport system in Europe.
