Jordan Government Partners with Replit to Launch AI Learning Assistant 'Siraj' for Revolutionizing Education

Revolutionary Partnership in Education

In a groundbreaking move, the Jordanian government has teamed up with Replit, a global leader in software development, to initiate a pilot project for 'Siraj', an AI-powered learning assistant set to revolutionize education across the Kingdom. This initiative is part of the broader strategy outlined by the National Council for Future Technology, reflecting the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to harness artificial intelligence for enhancing education and improving citizens' lives through technology.

What is 'Siraj'?

'Siraj', which translates to 'lamp' in Arabic, is designed to provide both students and teachers with an interactive learning experience. Leveraging generative AI, the assistant offers precise, curriculum-aligned responses derived from official textbooks, ensuring reliable and high-quality educational support.

Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Jordan's Minister of Education, noted that in less than a month, the pilot version of 'Siraj' was developed by Amer Abulaila from the National Council for Future Technology. He emphasized, "Creating a project of this scale from scratch would usually require months of development. Thanks to Replit, we were able to prototype and deploy the learning assistant in a fraction of the time, effectively turning our vision into reality."

Incredible Reach during the Pilot Phase

During its pilot phase, 'Siraj' has already made a remarkable impact, reaching over 100,000 students and teachers and recording more than 600,000 interactions on the platform. Following this successful pilot, the Ministry plans to expand 'Siraj' nationally, intending to provide access to 1.6 million students and 90,000 teachers in public schools throughout Jordan.

Dr. Mahafzah stressed that 'Siraj' aims to enhance student performance through self-directed learning and personalized academic support. He explained, “This initiative helps alleviate the burden on both parents and teachers, while ensuring that every student has access to accurate, interactive, and engaging learning resources.”

User-Friendly Interface

The platform features an intuitive Arabic interface that does not require technical expertise, functioning similarly to a conversational search engine, thereby making advanced AI technology accessible to everyone.

Amjad Masad, CEO of Replit, stated, "Siraj is an impressive example of what can be achieved when governments embrace innovation to empower their citizens. Built on Replit's agent-based software development platform, 'Siraj' brings cutting-edge AI advancements to the Jordanian education system, enhancing learning outcomes for both students and teachers. With Replit, anyone can create and publish applications using natural language—no programming expertise is necessary."

Setting a Regional Standard

Through this collaboration, Replit and the Jordanian government are driving the nation's vision for future-ready education, equipping teachers and students with state-of-the-art digital skills and setting a regional benchmark for AI-powered learning. As the initiative unfolds, 'Siraj' exemplifies the potential of AI to transform education, making learning more accessible and efficient for future generations.

With such ambitious goals, both Replit and the Jordanian government are poised to create a significant impact on the educational landscape, heralding a new era of technology-enhanced learning that could inspire similar initiatives across the globe.
