North Park University's Dance Team Triumphs at National Championship

In a significant achievement for North Park University (NPU), the dance team has proudly secured the NCAA Division III Team Performance title for the first time in its history. This landmark victory occurred at the College Classic National Championship held in Orlando, Florida, in April, marking a momentous occasion for both the team and the university.

The competition was fierce, with thirteen student-athletes from NPU participating in various master classes and competitions. Out of this group, eight dancers competed in the Division III Team Performance category. Additionally, twelve members also strived valiantly in the Division III Pom category, ultimately placing ninth. This championship follows the team's inaugural attendance at the event in 2024, where they had previously achieved sixth place in Division III Pom and eleventh in Division III Jazz.

Head Coach Kim Maljak expressed the significance of this championship title, stating, "Winning the national championship title this year meant everything to us. We worked hard, committed lots of time to practicing, and were dedicated to perfecting our last-minute changes to the routine. Because of that dedication, we became North Park's first-ever national champion dance team!" This sentiment echoes the passion and hard work of the entire team, which aimed to excel in every aspect.

As champions, the team returned home with a trophy, custom jackets, championship rings, and a banner that will hang prominently from the balcony of NPU's Helwig Recreation Center.
