The Craftsmanship Festival 2026, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, is set to unfold from July 31 to August 2 at the Tokyo International Forum. Noteworthy among the exhibitors is Bunkyo Gakuin University, which will display an innovative project themed around the integration of AI and Edo Komon, a traditional Japanese fabric dyeing technique. This initiative, led by Professor Hitoshi Kawagoe and his Management History Seminar, focuses on the preservation and revitalization of traditional crafts through technology.
Background of the Exhibition
The university's commitment to merging AI and traditional craftsmanship began in 2021 with the launch of a revitalization project aimed at Edo Komon. The team worked tirelessly to create a unique algorithm that resolves challenges faced by artisans, such as the extensive time spent on
