Engaging Family Workshops on Eye Safety and Hearing
On July 4th and 5th, 2026, the Japanese eyewear retailer
Meganetop hosted an engaging family workshop in
Fuchu City, Tokyo, focusing on the important topics of UV eye protection and understanding how we hear. The event took place at the
Mitten Fuchu venue and attracted a total of 35 participants, including 19 children and 16 adults.
Eye Care Workshop
The first workshop, titled
Meganetop Eye Care Class, aimed at instilling an understanding of the importance of protecting our eyes from UV rays. Participants engaged in a series of activities that began with learning about sunlight and the effects of UV radiation. The highlight was an experimental demonstration using UV lights to visualize the UV cut-off effect of sunglasses. Attendees observed how certain inks changed color under UV light, confirming the protective benefits of the sunglasses.
Additionally, participants were encouraged to try on various sunglasses while pampering their choice with family members. It was heartwarming to see children excitedly selecting eyewear, fostering time for families to discuss the significance of eye health together.
Understanding Hearing with Insects
Another workshop titled
Nighttime Insect Sound Encyclopedia focused on auditory science in engaging ways. As children and parents heard the sounds of local insects, they learned how sound travels and how our hearing changes as we age. This interactive session allowed participants to express and mimic insect sounds, deepening their understanding and appreciation of the auditory world.
Families participated in a fun quiz where they discussed among themselves to guess the sounds based on their imitations, creating an atmosphere of joy and collaboration.
