Invisible Fence® Brand Marks 20 Years of Project Breathe™ with Free Pet Oxygen Mask Donations

Celebrating 20 Years of Project Breathe™

Invisible Fence® Brand, a leader in pet safety for over half a century, is excited to announce the relaunch of its impactful initiative, Project Breathe™, this October. This year marks a significant milestone as the program celebrates its 20th anniversary and National Fire Prevention Month. The organization is committed to enhancing the lives of pets, having already supported over 3 million furry companions through its innovative safety solutions.

Established in 2006, Project Breathe™ aims to provide fire departments and first responders across the U.S. and Canada with essential pet oxygen mask kits at no cost. The need for such equipment is more critical than ever, as data shows an alarming rise in the number of pets affected by fires; each year, approximately 40,000 pets lose their lives in house fires, primarily due to smoke inhalation.

A Lifeline for Pets

In recent years, the increasing frequency of wildfires and countrywide fires has further exacerbated this issue. Unlike humans, pets often seek refuge in enclosed spaces during emergencies, which heightens their exposure to harmful smoke and gases. Recognizing this, Project Breathe™ was created to bridge the gap by supplying fire departments with the proper tools to care for pets when every moment counts.

As part of this renewed effort, Invisible Fence has upgraded its kits, which now include PureVent® pet oxygen masks from Pawprint Oxygen—available in multiple sizes to accommodate both small and large pets. Each kit comes equipped with all the necessary components, such as oxygen tubing that aligns with fire trucks and ambulances, allowing first responders to provide immediate assistance to affected animals.

Patrick Hassler, President of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating, “This is an opportunity to partner with a professional service that cares for animals as much as our business does. Animals are an extension of the family.”

Strengthening Community Connections

Invisible Fence understands that the heart of this initiative lies in the communities they serve. Throughout October, local dealers will work closely with participating fire departments to coordinate donation events, raising awareness about fire safety for pets. This is not solely about donating equipment but fostering partnerships to enhance local readiness for emergencies involving animals.

John Butrim, Executive General Manager at Invisible Fence® Brand, expressed enthusiasm for the relaunch, stating, “Keeping pets safe is at the heart of what we do, and this program gives us another opportunity to make a real difference when it matters most.” He emphasized the significant impact these masks can have, ultimately saving lives and providing another chance for pets in dire situations.

A Call to Action

Fire departments and eligible organizations interested in receiving a Project Breathe™ kit can express their interest by visiting Invisible Fence's official site. After submitting a request, a local representative will reach out to confirm eligibility and coordinate a potential donation event. It’s crucial to note that the distribution of the kits depends on community needs and program availability.

As Project Breathe™ embarks on this exciting new chapter, Invisible Fence® Brand is poised to make a lasting impact on pet safety and firefighting efforts across North America. With a legacy built on compassion and care, this initiative not only honors the past but also paves the way for a safer future for pets everywhere.
