Washington Trust Company Organizes Free Shredding Events for Community in June 2025

Washington Trust Company Hosts Community Shred Days

The Washington Trust Company is thrilled to announce its upcoming Community Shred Days, scheduled for June 7th and June 14th. This initiative is designed to provide free shredding services to residents across Rhode Island, allowing individuals to securely dispose of sensitive documents while also contributing to a worthy cause.

The events will take place at several branch locations throughout the state, fostering community engagement and awareness about data protection and environmental sustainability. On both dates, shredding services will be available from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Community members are encouraged to bring their old paperwork, including anything that may contain confidential information. Accepted items will comprise not only paper products but also electronic media like CDs, DVDs, and even floppy disks, so long as they are removed from their cases. Notably, participants do not need to remove staples, rubber bands, folders, or paper clips from their documents, making the process even more convenient.

To ensure each attendee can make the most of the service, there is a limit of two boxes of items per person, ensuring that a wide range of community members can benefit from this opportunity.

In an effort to give back, Washington Trust will also be collecting hygiene product donations at each shredding location. This initiative is in partnership with Amenity Aid, a local organization dedicated to combating hygiene poverty by collecting and distributing essential personal hygiene items to those in need across Rhode Island. This mutually beneficial aspect of the shredding events highlights Washington Trust's commitment not only to security and sustainability but also to community welfare.
